Calypso, a 54-foot motor boat, was built at Morris Heights, New York, in 1909 as a civilian pleasure craft. She was purchased by the Navy in June 1917 and placed in commission a month later as USS Calypso (SP-632). After spending the rest of the World War I era performing section patrol duties in northeastern U.S. waters, the boat was transferred to the U.S. Bureau of Fisheries in September 1919.
This page features the only view we have concerning USS Calypso (SP-632).
