Awatobi, a 410-ton Cahto class harbor tug, was built at Tacoma, Washington. Placed in service in February 1945, she spent her entire Navy career in the 12th Naval District, in the San Francisco Bay area of California. Awatobi left active service in 1960 and was stricken from the Naval Vessel Register in December of that year.
