Marques de la Ensenada (Cruiser, 1890-1900)

Marques de la Ensenada, a small cruiser or gunboat of the Isla de Luzon class, was launched in February 1890 at Carraca, Spain. Stationed at Havana, Cuba, before and during the Spanish-American War, she returned to Spain following that conflict.

At Kiel, Germany, during ceremonies marking the opening of the Kiel Canal in 1895. The bow of the Spanish battleship Pelayo (1887-1925) is in the right background.
