Rear Admiral William A. Moffett, USN


Pictured a few days before his death. He was lost on board USS Akron (ZR-4), on 4 April 1933 off Barnegat Light, coast of New Jersey. Rear Admiral Moffett was awarded the Medal of Honor during the intervenation at Vera Cruz, Mexico, 21-22 April 1914 and was the Chief of Bureau of Aeronautics from July 1921 to April 1933.
