USS Louisiana (Battleship # 19)
Church pennant flying above the National Ensign at the ship's stern, circa the middle or later 1910s.
The original image is printed on post card ("AZO") stock. Inscribed on its reverse is the following hand-written note: "The white flag with blue cross is the Church flag, the only flag ever allowed to fly above the stars and stripes. It is a pretty sight on Sunday morning to witness such a scene on all the ships. The Louisiana holds Protestant services."
Donation of Charles R. Haberlein Jr., 2008.
