USS Chincoteague (AVP-24)
A port side view of the after portion of the ship taken on 15 December 1943 at the Mare Island Navy Yard.
The ship was completing repairs to severe battle damage incurred in July 1943.
Changes to the anti-aircraft armament and boat stowage are circled.
The covered lighter alongside is USS YF-535, an old craft acquired in 1942. The nearest destroyer in the background is USS Thatcher (DD-514).
