USS Stoddert (DD-302)
View of the ship's smokestacks, circa 1931, showing the steel "umbrellas" installed to protect them from falling bombs. Stoddert was then serving as a radio-controlled target ship.
Note the steam whistle on the forward stack, and smokestack guy wires.
