Normandy Invasion, June 1944
A German land mine is detonated by U.S. Army Engineers of the 531st Engineer Shore Regiment, just behind one of the invasion beaches (probably "Utah" Beach), during the first days of the Normandy operation, circa 6-8 June 1944.
Note the truck in the foreground moving along a beach access road that has been stabilized with wire mats.
