Title: USS SHAW (DD-68), 1917-34
Caption: USS SHAW (DD-68) was escorting HMS AQUATINIA, a British transport, out of Southampton England with 8000 men aboard when the SHAW's rudder jammed while in zigzag. Unable to avoid collision, AQUATINIA crashed SHAW, slicing a 90 foot section from her bow, toppling her mainmasts, and destroying her forward boilers. USS SHAW backed 40 miles in to port to be repaired and sail again, 1918.
