The exhibit includes the Howell torpedo manufactured in 1890. This brass torpedo had no engine but ran on the stored energy of a flywheel turning at 10,000 rpm. |

View U.S. torpedoes from the Second World War, including the Mk 14 steam torpedo, Mk 18 electric torpedo, and Mk 13 air-dropped torpedo. A German G7e electric torpedo from the Second World War is also on display.
Visitors will also find modern U.S. torpedoes launched by submarines, surface ships, and aircraft. The exhibit explains the technology involved with the operation of these weapons and provides hands-on demonstrations of gyroscopic stability and motor operation.
