The museum collects material and information about submarines as it relates to the technology of operating and navigating beneath the sea. With respect to collecting submarine material, the museum cooperates with the Navy's official submarine museum, the USS Nautilus/Submarine Force Museum located in Groton, Connecticut. The two museums share information and collection items; both are official U.S. Navy museums.
