The second page confirms that the order had been carried out and is signed by the officers of the ship.

U.S. Ship Independence April 1st 1837 Sir, I respectfully request that a survey be held on three gun Breechings which I deem unfit for service. Very Respectfully Asa Curtis Gunner To Capt.
