The second page confirms that the order had been carried out and is signed by the officers of the ship.

Wm Jamesson Com[mandin]g U.S. Ship Independence Ashore Wm Jamesson Captain Flag Ship Independence Bay of Naples 31 Mar 1837 Gentlemen, You will be pleased to hold a strict and careful survey of the Gun Breechings, specified in the gunners application, and report the result thereof, in triplicate, to the Commander in Chief.
