Sir,
Your letter of this date rendering
your resignation as a member of the Board
of Navy Commissioners, is received.
In accepting it I take the
occasion to express the pleasure I have
derived from our official as well as per-
sonal intercourse, and to assure you that
I feel every confidence that the more active
duties of your profession upon which you
are about to enter, will be discharged as
honorably to yourself as I have no doubt
they will be beneficially to your country.
