Temporary Gate Closure
Effective 6pm Friday, Feb 10, 2012
to 5:00am Feb 12, 2012, the Washington Navy Yard's "O" Street Gate
and Visitor Center will be closed. Visitors may access the museum from the 6th &
M street gate only. Visitor Center services will be provided.
OPERATIONAL ARCHIVES
The Operational Archives at the Washington Navy Yard is open for researchers from 0900-1600 Mondays and Fridays only.
This adjustment is to allow preparation for moving a significant portion of archival material to facilities with archival standard environmental conditions.
AVIATION HISTORY and SHIPS HISTORY ARCHIVES
Aviation History and Ships History Archives - Open 0900 to 1600 Monday, Thursday, and Friday - Closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
CURATOR ARTIFACT COLLECTION
The Curator Branch of the NHHC at the Washington Navy Yard facility is in the process of relocating collections deemed to be at "High Risk" to new storage facilities. During the relocation process, access to parts of the Curator Artifact Collection is not possible. Staff will be available to respond to inquiries on a limited basis. Updates will be provided as to when normal operations are restored.
ARTIFACT LOAN PROGRAM:
The Curator Branch Artifact Loan Officer will be out of the office for an extended time between December 2011 - April 2012. Responses to loan inquiries may be delayed during this time frame.

It is recommended that researchers call ahead for an appointment at 202-433-2765.
The Photographic Section is scheduled to be relocated during 2012. The Section will close to the public on 31 December 2011 in order to prepare for the move. Updates will be provided as to when the Section will re-open for normal operations.
Navy Art Gallery
The Art Gallery will be closed to visitors.

The Art Gallery's closure is to prepare the collection for movement to an offsite facility with appropriate environmental conditions. The Gallery will reopen in a new location in 2012.
