Quileute (YTB–540) was laid down 17 February 1945 by Consolidated Shipbuilding Corp., Morris Heights, N.Y.; launched 14 May 1945; and placed in service 16 October 1945. Quileute began active duty for the 1st Naval District, Boston, Mass., in March 1946. In February 1962, she was reclassified YTM–540. Into 1970 she remains active with the 1st District.
