Motor boat Onward II was built by DeFoe Boat Works, Bay City, Mich.; acquired by the Navy from W. S. Forsythe 23 June 1917; and commissioned 25 June 1917 for patrol duty during World War I, and routine harbor patrol duties at Newport. Onward II was returned to her owner 2 December 1918.
