Manteo

 

A town in eastern North Carolina named for an Indian chief of Roanoke Island in 1585, when Sir Walter Raleigh established the first English settlement there.

The tug LT‑2092 was acquired from the Army in July 1962. She was named Manteo and classified YTM‑751 on 21 January 1963. In the following years, through 1968, she has provided tug and miscellaneous towing duties for the 10th Naval district at San Juan, P.R.
