Barbados was then completed and transferred to the United Kingdom under lend-lease 18 December 1943 as part of the 21-ship"Colony" class. She served as a patrol and escort craft until being returned to the United States 15 April 1946. The frigate was sold to Sun Shipbuilding & Drydock Co., Chester, Pa., 30 October 1947, and subsequently scrapped.
