A British name retained. Sir Thomas Gore, a captain in the Royal Navy, commanded HMS Triton from 1796 to 1801.

 

Herzog (DB-277) (q.v.) was renamed HMS Gore upon transfer to the United Kingdom under lend lease 14 October 1943.
