Desire (No. 786), a motor boat, was free-leased to the Navy, and placed in service on 14 June 1917. She was assigned to the 5th Naval District where she performed patrol duties and transported customs inspectors throughout the war. She was placed out of service and returned to her owner on 2 January 1919.
