Volunteer, acting under orders of the Depot Quartermaster's Office, CSA, Natchez, Miss., to procure and transport forage, was captured 25 November 1863 off Natchez Island, Miss., by Acting Volunteer Lieutenant Pearce, commanding USS Fort Hindman.
Volunteer was purchased by the Navy from the Springfield, Ill., prize court and served as USS Volunteer until sold at Mound City, Ill., 29 November 1865.
