Alamo was employed during the course of the war primarily as a government transport to move troops and supplies on the Arkansas River between Little Rock and Van Buren, Ark. During the summer of 1863 she operated briefly in the area of Matagorda Bay in connection with the Texas Marine Department [See Annex III].
