A former Indian village connected with Mission Dolores, San Francisco, Calif.
Carascan (YTB-511) was launched by the Commercial Iron Works, Portland, Oreg., on 11 August 1945. She was placed in service in March 1946 and assigned to the llth Naval District where she continues to render service to the Fleet.
