Boston Salvor (BARS-6)--an 800-ton salvage vessel built at New Bern, N.C., by the Barbour Boat Works--was transferred to the United Kingdom under lend lease on 26 January 1944. While serving the Royal Navy, the small ship was severely damaged by a V-2 rocket hit at Antwerp, Belgium. Redelivered to the United States Navy on 21 April 1945, Boston Salvor was recommended for disposition as scrap by a Board of Inspection and Survey. Ultimately, the hulk was acquired by a Belgian firm on 30 January 1946 and scrapped at Antwerp in March 1946.
