Bessie H. Dantzler

Bessie H. Dantzler (SP 3158)--a wooden-hulled tug built in 1901 at Scranton, Miss.--was purchased by the Navy on 24 July 1918 from the Pascagoula Towing Co., Moss Point, Miss., and was placed in service at the New Orleans Navy Yard on 19 August 1918.


She served as a yard craft at New Orleans until 9 September 1920 at which time she was loaned to the War Department. The Army returned Bessie H. Dantzler to the Navy on 14 November 1921. On 4 March 1922, she was sold to L. F. Alexander & Co., of New Orleans.
