The schooner Badassah was briefly chartered in 1837 by the Navy to assist in a survey--conducted by Lt. Charles Wilkes--of Georges Shoal and Bank, a fishing ground east of Cape Cod, Mass. From this survey emerged four engraved charts, published, later that same year, by the Depot of Charts and Instruments.
