A city in New York located on the west bank of the Hudson River about 145 miles north of New York City. It is the state capital and the seat of government for Albany County.

The fifth Albany (SSN-753) was laid down on 22 April 1985 at Newport News, Va., by the Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry dock Co.; launched on 13 June 1987; sponsored by Mrs. Nancy M. Kissinger; and was commissioned on 7 April 1990, Commander Darl R. Anderson in command.
