The second Alaska (Id. No. 3035)-Śa steam-powered fishing trawler built in 1881 at Boothbay, MaineŚwas chartered by the Navy from the Fisheries Products Co., Wilmington, N.C., on 18 September 1918 and commissioned at the Charleston Navy Yard that same day. Converted for service as a minesweeper, she served in the Charleston area for the remainder of World War I and briefly thereafter. She was returned to her owner on 10 January 1919; and her name was struck from the Navy list that same day.
