Bronze Guns of Leutze Park

No. 17 Spanish 12-pounder

Spanish 12-Pounder Bronze Gun: Named "El Toro" (the Bull) by its makers, this 1767 Barcelona gun was captured during the Mexican War. It was at the Norfolk Navy Yard when Virginia seceded from the Union in 1861 and was recovered by the Navy when Norfolk was reoccupied in 1862.
