No. 14 Spanish 12-pounder

Spanish 12-Pounder Bronze Gun: This gun was cast in 1795 at Barcelona. The box-like vent mass was added later to allow the gun to be fired by a flint lock, tripped by a lanyard, instead of touching a piece of slowmatch to the vent. It is believed that the gun was captured at Derna during the war with Tripoli and brought back to the United States in the U.S. brig Franklin late in1805.
