No. 12 French 12-pounder

French 12-Pounder Bronze Gun: This piece was cast in 1740 at Douay under the system of standardization devised for the French army by General Valliere, whose work foreshadowed the later ordnance reforms of Gribeauyal. Its rooster-head cascabel knob quickly identified it to a gunner as a 12-pounder.
