No. 11 French 12-pounder

French 12-Pounder Bronze Gun: Cast for Louis XV at Douay in 1740. Its elaborate decoration recalls the days of Louis XIV, the "Sun King." It bears his sun emblem as well as the famous motto "Ultima Ratio Regum" (the Last Argument of Kings). This gun, with its mate nearby, is believed to have been captured by Stephen Decatur
