No. 26 Venetian 5.75-inch Howitzer

Venetian 5.75-inch Bronze Howitzer: Developed by the Dutch in the 1600s, the howitzer enjoyed wide popularity in the 18th and 19th centuries. Like the later carronade it used a light powder charge to "lob" its projectile - usually an explosive shell - at low velocity. Howitzers were most often used on land but also armed small naval ships and craft.
