Hours

The Museum is open Monday - Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The Museum is open every day except Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.

Base Access Information

Please be advised that Base Security protocol can change without notice. All information provided below is based on standard Security procedures. Naval Support Activity Washington reserves the right to make changes at any time.

Construction on the Southeast Riverwalk trail, between the east end of the WNY Riverwalk and the intersection of 11th & O Streets, is currently taking place until the end of April, 2013. Until the completion of this work, that portion of the trail is closed to the public and no one will be able to exit the Riverwalk at 11th and O St. SE after visiting destroyer Barry.  The 4th St. SE exit will be the only Riverwalk exit available during the construction process.

Entrance Gates >View

  • 6th St SE & M St SE - Military and DoD employees only 24/7
  • 9th St SE & M St SE - Military and DoD employees only, Monday-Friday
  • 11th St SE & O St SE (1022 O St SE) - All non military, non DoD visitor entry on weekdays, weekends and holidays. Visitors can park in the pay lot on M St. across from the 6th St. gate on weekdays as vehicular traffic is not allowed to the Museum Monday through Friday.
    Visitors may drive in through the 11th & O St. gate on weekends. This gate is also the entrance for buses arriving on weekdays, weekends and holidays.

Please Note:

  • Buses must enter via the 11th & O St. SE gates on weekdays, weekends and holidays.
  • The General Public can bring cars onto the Navy Yard on weekends only and should use the 11th & 0 St. SE gate.
  • Pedestrians must enter the Washington Navy Yard at the 11th & O St. SE gate on weekdays, weekends and holidays. Museum visitors with DoD or military identification can enter the Navy Yard through the 6th & M St. SE gate on weekday, weekends or holidays.
