Scope and Content Note
This collection contains the personal papers of Marion B. Stafford, a nurse with the American Red Cross-Harvard Unit. Stafford and three other nurses were among the survivors when M/S Vigrid, a Norwegian ship in a British convoy, was torpedoed on 24 June 1941. The collections includes correspondence from 1 August 1941 to 28 January 1970, the monograph And Now--The Twelfth Night describing her experience on Vigrid, newspaper accounts of the lifeboat experience, a Red Cross Commendation, miscellaneous hospital documents relating to treatment and recuperation, and several photographs of Stafford and friends.
