Scope and Content Note

Most of these are reports of simulated war patrols undertaken for training purposes by U.S. submarines. Some document reconnaissance patrols in support of Korean Conflict operations, surveillance patrols, and polar transits. Much related material is in the Post 1946 Action and Operational Reports. The base of this collection was received from the Submarine Warfare Division of OPNAV, although the bulk of the material was received on an individual document basis. Copies are stored at the Washington National Records Center with other materials from the Post 1946 Action and Operational Report Files.
