Scope and Content Note

The records of the Naval Material Command Speech Bureau contain the speeches of the Chiefs of Naval Material and of selected Vice Chiefs, a Deputy Chief, and a Project Manager at the command. The speeches are filed in loose-leaf binders and one folder. They are arranged alphabetically by Chief, and subsequently by the Speech Bureau's assigned serial number. An exception to the numbering system was sometimes made when the person giving the speech was not the Chief of Naval Material. A Deputy Chief's speeches were identified with an "A" in the serial number, i.e. 1-A-66; a Vice Chief was identified with a "B" in the serial number, i.e., 1-B-66; and a Project Manager with a C, i.e., 1-C-72. The following are Chiefs of Naval Material represented in this collection:
