Scope and Content Note
This collection consists of English translations of French documents relating to the French war in Indochina. The papers date chiefly from the 1950s, the period of greatest French involvment in Indochina in the years following World War II, and cover a range of topics including the use of artillery, guerilla warfare and booby traps, small unit combat, and lessons learned.
Many of the documents were translated by the Aerospace Technology Division of the Library of Congress on behalf of the Advanced Research Projects Agency. The copies found in this collection were provided to the Naval Historical Center at the request of Dr. Dean Allard during his career at the Operational Archives Branch.
