Scope and Content Note
The collection consists of 14 reports sent to Captain Lovette between December 1943 and June 1944. These reports are in diary form and contain Lieutenant Commander Coale's observations and insights into the various commands he was assigned to in the Pacific campaign during this period. They are an informative narrative of the war in the Pacific. Commander Coale was a well-known combat artist during World War II, famous for his murals.
