Scope and Content Note

This division, headed by Captain Arleigh A. Burke, was concerned with the organization of the Department of Defense and the Navy's role the Defense Department and national strategy. These records include general correspondence, newspaper clippings, speeches, transcripts of testimony before congressional committees, and related documents. The material is arranged by security classification and thereunder either by subject symbol as set forth in the Navy Filing Manual or by special subject categories. For each security classification segment there is a special inventory.
