Agent Orange Information
Deck logs covering the Vietnam War have been transferred to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).
Deck logs do not document the deployment of individual sailors ashore in the Republic of Vietnam, subject to the exceptions noted see www.history.navy.mil/faqs/faq73-1.htm . In addition, NARA has quite limited resources available for reproduction, and normally can only duplicate two months worth of deck logs per request. NARA can be contacted at the following address:
National Archives and Records Administration
Modern Military Records Branch (NWCTM)
8601 Adelphi Road
College Park, MD 20740-6001
Cargo manifests and other cargo-related documentation created between 1961 and 1988 are not identified for permanent retention, and are normally destroyed between one and five years after creation. Consequently, the Naval History and Heritage Command cannot document the transportation of Agent Orange herbicides.
The U.S. Army and Joint Services Records Research Center is the agency created to research Agent Orange claims. Their researchers have full access to the archives and records of military services and federal agencies, and can be contacted at:
