Arcadia may have served the Confederates as a transport in the Yazoo River, Miss., under the control of Comdr. I. N. Brown, CSN, in charge of Confederate vessels in the Yazoo. Commander Brown burned and scuttled Arcadia in the Yazoo River in July 1863 to keep her from falling into the hands of a Union naval force under Acting Rear Adm. D. D. Porter, USN.
