History comes alive at the U.S. Navy Museum!

Devoted to the display of naval artifacts, models, documents and fine art, the museum chronicles the history of the United States Navy from the American Revolution to the present conflicts. Interactive exhibits commemorate our Navy's wartime heroes and battles as well as peacetime contributions in exploration, diplomacy, navigation and humanitarian service.


Hours of Operation

U.S. Navy Museum and
Cold War Gallery

Mon-Fri: 9am to 5pm
Sat-Sun, Holidays: 10am to 5pm

Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.

Display Ship Barry

Thurs-Sat: 10am to 5pm

The USS Barry is CLOSED from July 4th - July 23rd. The ship will resume its usual operations Thursday, Friday and Saturday 1000-1700 hours between July 24th - August 30th, 2014

Display Ship Barry will be open to the public from 24 July-30 August.

The Museum is open to the public and tours can be arranged for schools or other groups.

To enter the Washington Navy Yard and visit the National Museum of the United States Navy,  you will need either a Department of Defense, Common Access Card, Active Military, Retired Military or Military Dependent ID's. Visitors without these forms of ID will need to be escorted by an individual above with  proper credentials.  The museum does provide escorting services from 0900-1500 Monday - Friday and 1000-1500 Saturday, Sunday and Federal Holidays
